CPD Activities for On-line tutors

National Extension College (NEC) Tutoring Online course Amanda Davies at the National Extension College writes: NEC, is currently enrolling tutors onto the latest cohort of its popular short course for Tutoring Online, which is designed to update and develop tutor's skills to enable them to teach online. The course, which demonstrates how to implement the principles that underpin good tutoring in an online environment and focuses on supporting students online rather than the technology of tutoring online, is suitable for anyone who supports, or plans to support, learners online. Text-based with online activities, Tutoring Online supports the transfer of skills from a traditional to an online environment in just 12 weeks. The course contains six units to be studied over the 12-week programme, and costs £295 (+ City & Guilds registration fee of £45). Anyone who successfully completes all six units will gain a Certificate in Online Tutoring from City & Guilds. The next programme of Tutoring Online runs from 31st January to 22nd April 2005. Places on the course are limited, and anyone interested in enrolling is encouraged to contact NEC as soon as possible for more information and an enrolment form.
