Pound a Poem is a new fundraising poetry competition in aid of
Cancer Research UK. The competition is aimed at pupils in Years 3
to 6 in the UK. Pound a Poem is linked to the literacy and
citizenship curriculum and will raise funds for research into
children's cancers.
A stimulating teachers' pack has been produced, which includes
topic webs, and an interactive DVD featuring children's favourites
Dick and Dom as well as Tracy Beaker.
All primary schools will receive a pack as part of the launch on 18
September but teachers can also find out more by visiting the Pound
a Poem website by following the link below.
The closing date for entries is 1 December 2006 and all entries
must be submitted through schools.
